Oceans

A monk asked the Bodhidharma,
“what is sacred?”.
He replied,
“nothing sacred, only vastness”.
Probably why we have oceans,
which are vast beyond comprehension.
Hawaii is thousands of miles from anywhere,
north, south, east, or west.
Vastness.
Most of the planet is water.
Then we look up,
much of the starlight we see is from stars that died
long ago.
It is no wonder that we yearn to be significant,
which of course we are, but only in the midst of
vastness.
