Time is a construct to soothe
our fear of the infinite.
It is linear and structured
in a universe that is vast
beyond imagining.
Time has beginnings and endings,
the cosmos does not.
But, you say, there was the Big Bang.
True, but there was another beginning before that or
it could not have happened.
Time gives us comfort, as in,
“I’m sorry, I don’t have time.” or
“I’m out of time.”
Even though existence, as we know it, is finite.
Vastness is not.
Damn, another unknowable.
